Here some references, in order to draw from the operating sectors of the Volkswagen-Climatronic useful information. The special charm consists of needing no diagnose units one can e.g. times evenly at the traffic light or other value select.

The description of the error selection, control member test and Onboard diagnosis refers on an operating sector the company Hella, as down shown. It is z. B. to find in the gulf IV and in the trade wind 3B/3BG. In these vehicles mentioned also outwardly same operating sectors are blocked by VDO, which is connection compatible, but the Eigendiagnose is differently occupied.

Internal error memory select:

Ignition.

Activation of the selection: Operate the keys “ECON” and “circulating air” for at least 2s.

Now an error which is available if necessary is indicated. By manipulation of “more warmly” the next error is indicated. After all error codes were indicated, “000” appears.

If no error is present, the code appears “444”.

Error memory clear: After expenditure end (announcement of 000, i.e. no further error) the error memory can be cleared: Key “ECON” for at least 2s press. As confirmation one indicates: “444”.

Mode leave: brief manipulation of the “ECON” - key

Control member test

All elements of the Climatronic are started for testing.

A condition:

Ignition, engine stands, for vehicle stop, tension at clamp 15 < 15.5 V

Introduce the control member test:

simultaneous pressing of the keys “ECON” and “CIRCULATING AIR” (see representation with error memory selections), to keep pressed and ignition switch on, combination of keys further for at least 2s pressed to keep. In the announcement of the Climatronic now all segments appear.

Description: In now the control member test automatically running off (duration approx. 30s) the actuators are defined headed for in dependence of the time. The moreover the periphery of the controller (sensors, engines, fresh air blower, push button switch) becomes, as far as the diagnostic conditions are given (see diagnostic work statement), made a diagnosis. Before and after the control member test the actuators are controlled by the system software. During the control member test all keys are locked and all segments in the LCD switched on. An introductory control member test can be broken off neither over the keyboard nor over the VAG tester. After conclusion of the self check scolded the controller automatically into the mode: “Error memory selections” (see above).

OnBoard diagnosis

OBD is while driving possible also with running engine and.

The introduction of the diagnosis is done via simultaneous pressing of the keys “ECON”, “more coldly”, “blowers smaller”.

By means of the temperature keys “more warmly” and “more coldly” the diagnostic channels are paged through.

Note:

Different channel loadings exist. If a plausible Geschwindigkeitssignal is to be read off with the Onboard diagnosis on channel 16, then the following description applies. Other channel loadings have partially the speed on channel 17 or 19. Then the following list is not applicable.

Depending upon vehicle possibly not all specified channels are occupied.

With my gulf IV from 07/2002 with a Climatronic C 2.0.0 part number 3B1 907,044 C those agree far down channels - so far occupied - with the announcements, described in this article.

System error

In the last operating cycle if a system error was recognized, all segments in the LCD flash after switching on of the ignition on for 15sec with a frequency of 2Hz.

The following stationarily recognized errors (error counter = 50) cause the system error:

- VAG Testerfunkt. 04 basic position does not introduce accomplished

- VAG Testerfunkt. 07 parameter coding not accomplished

- External feeler (suction port) and external feeler (bumper) defectively

- Push button switches/- sensor defectively

- Interior feelers defectively

- Reference tension (ext. Sensorspg.)

References to individual channels

The driving speed indicated in channel 16 is not exaggerated exact despite their digital announcement. It does not serve the regulation essentially to adapt the quantity of the fresh air flowing in to the driving speed - no longer and less.

With the evaporator temperature made available in channel 40 it can be determined roughly whether the cooling performance of the plant is still perfect. Independently of possibly subjective feeling of the passengers is here an objective measurement of the reached temperature without possible for late admixture of warm air, if necessary taking place. The evaporator temperature should walk during attitude “Lo” also with largest heat within a few minutes into one-digit ranges and assume after at the latest a half hour of brisk trip a persistence value around 3 °C.
